Abstract or description
The 62 group exhibitions are part of an international investigation into the language of textiles and issues surround history, social and polical issues. The research considers the development of the Femine Mystique by manufactures and advertisers as dfined by Betty Friedan.
The manipulation of womens desires to beleive through housework and commodities for cleaning they could express their femininity and individuality. Consuming products presented them as the a perfect female. The contemporay development of lifestyle choices has created a market of consumables that exploits the style of Utility and make do and mend. Purchasing such a lifestyle at added value costs is a dichotomy of purpose. The work takes items of domestic purpose, and combines them to render them uselaess.
