Abstract or description

Instrumentation and measurement is one of the core subjects in engineering education, usually taught at level one on the Engineering degree, and diploma courses. This book presents a very basic and straightforward introduction to the most common instrumentation and measurements used in engineering practice. Measurements such as Dimensional measurements, Temperature, Pressure, Flow, Force, Electrical Voltage, Current, Resistance and Power are all presented. For every kind of sensor, the basic principle is introduced; describing all the different method each type of measurement is available. This book provide a unique method of presentation, for each subject the theory is described in details, followed by worked examples, and a laboratory exercise. These laboratory exercises are currently used in a first year course at Staffordshire University.
