Abstract or description
After considering the development of the modern child maintenance regime, Common Law duties to maintain, and the policy factors that informed the introduction of the current statutory regime, the work examines the system, and its main features and modus operandi. Administrative processes in the CSA, including the complex arrangements for making an assessment or 'calculation' are considered, together with the opportunities offered by the system for revisions, supersessions, and appeals. Court-based maintenance, and inter-action with the statutory regime, is considered, assisted by an analysis of case-law.
