Abstract or description

This paper addresses the problem of mobile content delivery failure in wireless data networks, and the resulting wastage of communication resources. In these networks, many content delivery transactions fail due to inadequate device or channel capability, possibly after a partial delivery of the requested content. This results in wastage of communication resources. The paper proposes a solution to enhance and optimise the delivery of mobile content, as a novel approach for reducing the probability of wasting valuable communication resources. Investigation has shown that current delivery management methods for mobile content do not consider the condition of the components involved in the whole delivery process. The work presented in this paper takes an integrative view of the mobile content delivery process components, by considering device capability, wireless channel condition and mobile contents metadata. Multi-agents technology is applied as a tool to improve the performance of the mobile content delivery process and to overcome, or at least take account of, the restrictions of wireless communications infrastructure. Reliable mobile content delivery management methodology is a key to the delivery of a quality end-user experience.
