Objectives

To assess the impact of suturing versus alternative methods/techniques for the repair of the episiotomy or the second degree perineal tears on the incidence of short- and long-term postpartum morbidity.

Comparisons will be made in the following categories.
Standard suturing technique (synthetic suture, continuous non-locking method) versus alternative closure techniques with glues, adhesive materials, staples, etc. for all layers (vagina, muscles and perineal skin).Standard suturing technique versus alternative closure technique with glues, adhesive materials, staples, etc. only for perineal skin closure.
