Mobile and wireless technology has permeated into many aspects of life, and will continue to do so both through choice and requirement. In the case of education, the adoption of the technology can be seen as adding value to key processes and information systems supporting the delivery services where ultimately it is the students that benefit. The demands of a modern Higher Education systems and expectations of students will, no doubt, continue to fuel its take up. This paper presents an outline of reference points with which to align adoption discussions for mobile learning in a higher educational system
