China has a population three times more than all other transition economies combined, and China’s economic development in the last two decades has been nothing short of phenomenal, having overtaken Japan as the world’s second‐largest economy. China’s future economic growth, social and political stability will undoubtedly have an unprecedented influence on the order and fiscal stability of the Chinese people.
