Abstract or description

Brownfield Banquet aims to challenge fears around brownfield sites, which see them as empty spaces, of potential threat and danger. We aim to reframe these spaces, and see them as resilient eco-systems, which can, with little or no intervention, become sites of potential - we have a lot to learn from these environments. They can be safe, what's more - they can be special. Our activity on these sites calls for recognition of what they are (and what they could be) today, not just what they were, or what they might be in the future.

In the first Brownfield Banquet event, you can expect an intimate, friendly setting with food, artist led discussion and a musical accompaniment - all of which we would love for you to contribute towards. Bring a chair, a food to share for the main course and your favourite vinyl record! We will supply cutlery, crockery and drinks.

Rebecca Davies and Anna Francis collaborated on this special event, which was part of a series of MATIC Nights commissioned by Davies and in collaboration with AirSpace gallery. This was the fifth in a series of Monthly Socials which presented a rich mix of Film screenings, Music events, Performances and Talks, to be held on the final Friday evenings of the month.
