Abstract or description
Poverty manifests itself in various forms, including a lack of income and productive resources to ensure sustainable livelihoods, hunger and malnutrition, ill health, increased morbidity and mortality from illness, limits on or lack of access to education and other basic services, homelessness and inadequate housing, unsafe environments, and social discrimination and exclusion. It is also characterized by a lack of participation in decision-making and in civil, social, and cultural life. An ethnic group is a social group that shares a common and distinctive history, culture, religion, language, or the like. Ethnic poverty occurs when there is systemic poverty for an ethnic group.
