62@50 was a group exhibition at the Holden Gallery Manchester to celebrate the 62 Group of International Textile Artists’s 50 years at the forefront of innovation and creativity
My work ‘Communication’ expresses the concerns of living in a global world of communication where so much information being passed on through technology. The work questions how much of the information is being understood. It poses the question of whether there is time for reflection, quiet contemplation, and opportunties for human contact. The work consists of two chairs are separated by a 28 inch arm rests made out of carefully sewn and constructed linen and tapestry. The objects were reconstructed to convey the difficulty of communication and a sense of unease.
