Escalating concerns regarding the huge strain upon healthcare systems globally are occurring on a daily basis and are currently becoming significantly worse due to new variants of coronavirus.
This crisis not only impacts frontline staff but all systems and communities. Covid-19 has severely disrupted universities, and subsequently nurse education, and other allied health professionals. Schools of nursing have responded and continue to adapt nurse education in an attempt to ‘work with’ these unique challenges to develop the next generation of care providers.
The most recent announcement from the Nursing Midwifery Council has, again, caused great unrest and anxiety among healthcare students, qualified staff and higher education institutions (HEIs) across the country.
