Abstract or description

A short story submitted to the Dinesh Allirajah Prize for Short Fiction 2022: Crime Stories.

The protagonist sets up a business listening to people's small domestic confessions over the kitchen table. These little revelations give a glimpse of the tiny guilts suffered in the small town, until a child goes missing, and the protagonist is faced with the decision to break her client's confidence or suffer the consequences of silence.
