Abstract or description

The BAFTSS Performance & Stardom SIG invites you to an online session on ‘Pitching a book proposal’ on Monday 31st July 2023, 2pm.
• Are you planning a book or edited collection on stardom and/or performance?
• Do you have a project related to the SIG’s focus in gestation but want some motivation to start tackling that book proposal form?
• Could you do with some advice on approaching publishers or identifying who might be best for your performance or stardom project?
• Have you published in this area and think your experiences might be useful to others?
The session aims to be an informal Q&A and discussion to help anyone wanting a bit of support in focusing their ideas into a solid book proposal or about the experience of approaching academic publishers on the topic of stardom and performance. It will cover both monographs and edited collections. All Performance and Stardom SIG members are welcome and encouraged to share their ideas, but we’d especially like to invite our PGRs and ECRs to connect with members who already have experience publishing on performance and stardom (and related fields).

We have an invited panel of experts, but all attendees are welcome to contribute to the discussion. Panel members include Lin Feng (Leicester), Gillian Kelly (independent scholar), Julie Lobalzo Wright (Warwick), and Mark McKenna (Staffordshire).
