Abstract or description

This chapter discusses techniques for the composition of electronic visual music. Exploring various approaches to conceptualising a project and techniques for working with sound, visual and combined media, it will provide theoretical concepts that can be used to compose your own works. Theoretical topics such as compositional thinking, audio-visual landscapes and montage are discussed. Lumia is also explored and how it can influence the composition of visual music as well as how its factors can be interpreted in sound. There is a critique of algorithmic techniques versus composer rendition. Methods of analysing completed compositions will be introduced with two example analyses.
