Abstract or description
More than forty days of Loyalist protests in Northern Ireland against the decision of Belfast City Council to remove the British flag from City Hall spilled over into sectarian rioting on Saturday 12 January. Tony Craig looks at both this sustained period of disorder, as well as the wider danger from dissident republicans, in order to assess the current threats to the political consensus and peace in Northern Ireland.
