Abstract or description

Journal article analysing Macro, a film and television production and talent management company, and its CEO, Charles D. King, a former agent and the first Black partner at the William Morris agency. More specifically, the article contextualises and deflates claims made in the promotional and critical discourse around Macro and King that they are disruptive players that enhance the visibility of people of colour on screen and bring about positive benefits to the industry and communities of colour. The article challenges the 'great man' and entrepreneurial discourse that King has cultivated by pointing out several problems, including especially a continuation of racist Hollywood logics that sees Black-cast films be under distributed globally compared to White-cast films.
