Abstract or description
This article uses a case study of the 2024 League of Legends World Finals, hosted in London, to posit that esports megaevents on this scale create symbolic value that is coveted by politicians and businesses. In the case of London, an esports megaevent conveys a sense of digital excellence that is important for contributing to the domestic policy aims of attracting venture capital, especially surrounding AI technologies.
