Abstract or description

The main focus of the paper was on positive developments as well shortcomings in the evolving welfare-to-work regime, including the difficulties often associated with transitions to employment, including open-ended probation periods, income and job insecurity, and the effects of poor retention, and the revolving door syndrome(work-to-welfare). The paper was one of a number of papers given by speakers from participating organisations, including the Institute of Employment Rights; Disability Alliance; Carers UK; Toyota UK; SU Advice Work Team (Advice Studies); Citizens Advice; ACAS; Ferret Information Systems; the Trades Union Congress; Temple Cloisters; the Engineering Employers Federation (EEF); Whittles Solicitors; and Worcester Law School.
