Abstract or description

A discussion of tabletop roleplaying games and the ways in which they elicit horror. The presentation concludes that whilst 'horror' is not always possible, effective play and narrative styles within games can create high levels of 'tension', which facilitate plater unease. An examination of ludic functions and how rules are used to create value within these games concludes the work.
