    Abstract or description
This poem is the result of a collaboration with the visual artist Jo Berry for the Companion Stones Project, commissioned and managed by Arts in the Peak, and funded by the Arts Council England Lottery Fund and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. The poem is inscribed on a wayside stone designed by Jo Berry, and situated as a companion to an eighteenth century direction or ‘guide’ stone at ‘Bleak House’, one of the project's twelve locations in the Derbyshire Moorlands
