Binge: exhibition exploring the habitual scenes of spectacular weekend intoxication to be found on any British high street

‘Binge’ is a work by Common Culture (Brown, Campbell, Durden) that consists of a set of photographs, which have been delivered as posters, placed as if images of aspiration upon the gallery wall.
Binge records the habitual scenes of spectacular weekend intoxication to be found on any British high street. Addled by overconsumption, revelers spill onto pavements, littering doorways and street furniture, bodies out of control and in peril. The work deals with media conventions that depict the excess as a result of a societal consumption.
Exhibited in Variable Capital at Bluecoat Gallery, Liverpool, UK as part of the Liverpool Capital of Culture events. Friday 23 May – Sunday 29 June 2008.
