Abstract or description
Chair: Anna Francis (The Portland Inn Project)
Speakers: Anna Francis (The Portland Inn Project), Angela Fell (Movement for Neighbourhood Democracy), Mercedes Sharpe Zayas (Parkdale People’s Economy Project and Power Lab,
Canada)
Across the globe, there is growing momentum behind the idea that power and decision-making should be shifted to the communities that know their local areas best. Come along and
hear the stories of community-led groups and organisations in the UK, US and Canada who are building power in
their neighbourhoods.
Anna Francis chaired the session, with each of the 3 practitioners sharing 10 minute case studies on Community Power Building, before a discussion and Q and A session took place.
